I hope everybody enjoyed their summer, and boy it was a hot one. There was not much going on with the chapter in summer months, But here is what happen and what is coming up.

FUNDRAISING
  This is the last week to sell or buy you football sweepstakes tickets. We need back to the by Sat. Sept.10th. Put them in the mail this week.. I will send the winners list out each week to all chapter members,and to any body that gives us their e-mail. To everybody that supported this thank you for your support.   The Oct lotto tickets were mailed out late week. Sorry I do not results for the month on Aug.
 
CHAPTER FISHING TRIP
  We had 15 people on the boat this year. The weather was not good to us this year . We had rough seas, and the fish we caught were small, and we had to threw them back. Everybody had a good time,and as always Lenny Johnson got sea sick.
 
MEMBERSHIP
  We now have 243 members in VVA, 38 members in AVVA. Total for both 281.
 
HONOR FLIGHT
  I hope you got you paper work in. We are leaving for Washington at 6:00 AM Sat. Oct 1st from Sugar House
Hope to see a lot of our members.
 
POW/MIA
   There are 1,618 still missing from the Vietnam War, 90 of them from Pennsylvania, and 11 still missing from Philly.
 
HOMELESS VETERANS
  Delaware Valley Stand Down will be Sept. 9,10,11 this year. It will be at 7321 New Falls RD. Levittown, Pa. [ behind the library }. They are always volunteers. You can call them at 267-560-5011 or delvalstanddown@gmail.com
 
BUS TRIP TO WASHINGTON,DC
     The chapter is planning a bus trip to Washington ,DC on Sat. Nov. 12th, the day after Veterans Day but we need more people ,or we will not go. The cost is $35.00 a person . This is not for vets only. You can bring family and friends. Call Steve at 215-624-1530 or bogie609@aol.com
 
CHAPTER CANDLE LIGHT / NAME READING
   This will take place on Friday night Oct. 21th at 7:00 PM at the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
 
PRODUCTS SALES
  The chapter is getting out of the products sales business. All T-shirts are $10.00 sizes limited.
 
2nd PHILADELPHIA VETERANS PARADE
  Will be on Sunday NOV.6, 2016. The chapter will have a free bus to take you downtown to the parade from the post, and bring you back.
 
EAGLES GAMES AT THE POST
  The post canteen will be open for all Sunday Eagles 1:00 and 4:30 games Come on down and enjoy the games. Use the side red door.
 
COMMUNITY SERVICES
   We are still collecting stamps that we send to a VA hospital in Az., beer and soda tabs that go to help the Ronald McDonald house, old glasses that go to the Lions  Club, old cell phones that we send to Phones for Soldiers, food coupons we send over seas to families to use at a PX . Dates don`t matter, old flags, and socks for the homeless veterans and Stand Down. You can bring to chapter meeting or mail them to us.

Well I am back from Texas. I was there for the month of June to see my new grand daughter. We had a Board Meeting Monday 7/18/16, and these are some of the things we talked about to being you up to date.

Fundraising  

 
FOOTBALL SWEEPSTAKES
 
By now every chapter member got 5 football sweepstakes tickets in the mail. We need your support with selling these for the chapter. I am asking everybody to show them to people, because not everyone can sell them. Some of us are now retired . We are older now and can`t get around like we used to. We have till Sat. Sept. 10th to sell them. So show and tell someone about it. The last couple years the money that we have raised has been going down. This a major fund raising for the chapter. As I said it is one of the things that keeps our chapter going. To the chapter members who live out of state or the  city,or to far to make the meetings. Selling and buying is one way to show your support. All chapter members will get a list of the winners each week
   If you belong to a group, another post, fishing club , bowling team,  any group that is looking to raise a little money. If they take  100 tickets or more and sell them. They get $3.00 out of the $10.00 of the cost of the ticket. They sell 100 tickets they get $300.00. We just need a person to be the point of contact. One group took a 100 to sell for money for their Christmas Party.

Chapter LOTTO
To all the chapter members and friends of the chapter who buy and sell our lotto tickets,Thank you for your support. The chapter paid out $2900.00 in June. Good Luck in Aug.

  The chapter is going on a deep sea fishing trip on Sat. Aug. 27th on the 61 foot Mary M 4 out of Banegat Light,NJ. The cost is $70.00. This is not just for chapter members you can being family and friends. The boat leaves at 6:00 am  bait and rods are free. Call Chuck Bauer at 215-722-3518
 
EDUCATION COMMITTEE
 
  We did essays contests at schools in May and June the subject was "What Memorial Day means to me"
The winners got gift cards,and thanks to the chapter members who when to the schools
 
POW/MIA
  There are 1,621 still missing from the Vietnam War. The POW /MIA recognition day this year is Friday Sept.16th 
 
HOMELESS VETERANS
   Stand Down is on Sept. 9,10 11 this year.They are always looking for volunteers. They have helped over 4,000 veterans since 1994.

SUNSHINE COMMITTEE
  Chapter member Nick Zityniuk passed away. The president sent get well cards to Tommy Graziosetta, James Chappelle, and Gerry Ney. Pease let the chapter know how you are doing. A card let`s you know we care.

Hello everybody it has been awhile, but let me bring you up to date with what we have been doing.
 
  CHAPTER MEETINGS
The chapter meeting for June 6th the last one till Sept. has been canceled. The reason being I will be in Texas for the birth of my second grandchild. Our Vice President Len Johnson who is also the Commander of the Naomi Chapter 15 of the DAV has to be in Eric, Pa.for a meeting. So with that we hop to see you in Sept. on the 12th.
 
  FISHING TRIP
The chapter has chartered the MARY M IV out of Barngate Light ,NJ on Sat Aug. 27th for a day of deep sea fishing. This trip is open to not  only chapter members, but their family and friends. We will leave the dock around 6 or 7. bait and rods are free. The cost $70.00 not bad for a full day of fishing. The chapter is planing a bus trip to Washington DC on Sat Nov.12. but we need people. This again this is open to not only chapter members, but family and friends. What a great way to be with your kids and grand kids to show them the Vietnam, Korean, and World War II Memorial. We leave at 6:00AM  from Cottman and the Blvd. back home around 9:00pm  The cost is $35.00 a person.

EDUCATION
We had our essay contest again this year "What Memorial Means to Me" and what great essays these students wrote did year. The chapter would like to thank the schools , the teachers and the students
 
POW/MIA
There are still 1,6521 missing from Vietnam.
POW/MIA Recognition Day is Friday Sept. 16th this year.
 
HOMELESS VETERANS
Stand Down  is Sept. 9,10, 11 this year. Let are always looking for volunteers.
 
2nd PHILADELPHIA VETERANS PARADE
The parade this year will be on Sunday Nov. 6th
 
NAME READING / CANDLE LIGHT CEREMONY
The chapter will do its` name reading ceremony on Friday Oct. 23th at 7:00PM. We honor and pay respect to the 648 men who died in Vietnam
 
In closing Memorial Day is Monday May 30th.  How about doing something. Come down to the memorial,fly your flag. Always remember the freedoms that we have today is because of the men who died for our country
Have a great and safe summer. Think about the fishing trip and bus trip to Washington, DC
