Coatesville VA Medical Center Announcements

Medical Foster Home Open House

The Coatesville Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is asking people to participate in a Medical Foster Home.  The Hospital is located at 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.

A Medical Foster Home is a long-lasting, real home where a Veteran lives among a family or individual in the community. At the Open House, health care professionals will explain how the program works, what the requirements are, and how to get involved. Additionally, a Medical Foster Home caregiver will share his life-changing story. There will be plenty of information that participants can take home.

A Medical Foster Home provides the Veteran with a private bedroom, a flexible daily routine, the opportunity to make choices, 24-hour supervision, a permanent home, safeguards against abuse, and the possibility for pets. The family or individual provides some physical assistance and communicates with the medical center about the Veteran’s health and well-being. VA health care professionals visit the home and provide the Veteran with health care as necessary. The family or individual who owns or rents the home is financially compensated.

To learn more about the program and requirements, interested persons can call Medical Foster Home Coordinator Ferlin Charles at 610-466-2273.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life to all military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan by sending the comforts of home to their remote locations. Our items of comfort include but are not limited to pillows, sheets, socks, snacks and other daily necessities. Operation Bedding, founded in 2006, has sent nearly 10,000 boxes of supplies overseas. We are funded solely through the efforts and generosity of private citizens and corporate giving. In addition, we are 501(c)3 and are tax deductible.

USA Cares exists to provide military families with financial support and
other critical resources in their time of need.

THEY HAVE OUR BACKS OVER THERE. WE HAVE THEIR BACKS HERE AT HOME.

Many of us are bikers. WE WILL USE OUR MOTORCYCLES TO DRAW ATTENTION TO OUR CAUSE, WHICH IS OUR TROOPS.
Many of us are Veterans: WE WILL SUPPORT THE MISSION OF OUR UNIFORMED BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
All of us are Americans: WE WILL HONOR OUR NATION’S WARRIORS HERE AT HOME, AND SUPPORT THEIR FAMILIES WHILE THEY FIGHT FOR US ABROAD.
Many of us are Vietnam and Cold War Era Veterans
NEVER, EVER, WILL WE ALLOW THIS GENERATION OF HEROES TO BE TREATED WHEN THEY COME HOME AS WE WERE TREATED WHEN WE CAME HOME.  NEVER AGAIN WILL AN AMERICAN WARRIOR BE SCORNED, OR IGNORED.
